Thanks for the help everyone. A little embarrassed I hadn't figured out those yellow paths on the map!! So I got to the top, knelt before the Steward's chair, but then I couldn't complete the quest. I'm on book 2. Well if not this anniversary, then next, I'll be able to complete this. Elmagor Voir le profil View Forum Posts. But I do agree that Boromir would make a much better Guardian exemplar than Sam. How could you possibly be more guardian-like than the way he protected Merry and Pippin at Amon Hen?
Jun 01 , PM Boromir as the model Guard. Not even close. Boromir was fail. He failed Galadriel's test, he failed the challenge of the ring, he failed to protect the hobbits, just failed. He was arrogant and cocky and he was FAIL. He was the perfect Guardian. He did not seek the glory, but quietly protected his charge and went all the way to Mt Doom and in the end carried the group to where they needed to be.
In the one case where he was needed most, he single handedly charged into an orc fortress and rescued his party from certain doom. If you think Guardians are the ones who seek fame and the admiration of others, you don't understand what it is to be a Guardian. Guardians are the quiet hero. You don't see huge dps numbers next to our names. We are the first to die. Our pain is other's gain. At the end of the day our repair bills are highest, our success is measured not by how much or how far, but by how little and how few.
Guardians are those that step to the front when the battle is to begin, and step back when it is over. A Guardian wont be with all the others celebrating the victory, but will have gone out to stand watch relieving someone more tired so they can go inside out of the cold.
He will eat and sleep last. He will do without. He will take the heaviest burden with the least protest. He will be the one you hope to see on your left and right in ANY fight. That is a Guardian and those traits are what SAM defines. I am proud to have Sam as our model. Djasi, A Guardian. Jeff, That was absolutely poetry. Join Date Jun Posts 1, Apr 27 , AM 5. Finding the plaque is credit to someone who sent me a tell after I asked another question, I think the name was Silkymistress Arkenstone. She told me while I was there getting the tip of the prow that I should go back to the ground level to find the plaque on a fountain in the North side, so I just ran North until I found it. They make you feel part of the story. May 15 , AM 5. Join Date Jan Posts 6, Several who are minor characters in the books become major characters in the game. For example, Halbarad the Ranger is Aragorn's number two man, but only shows up in a couple of places in the books. A little dialog and a mention of his death at the battle of the Fields of Pelennor. In the game, he's got a major role in Esteldin and later in Enedwaith. I'm expecting him again in the next content update.
Another example is Horn, who is merely mentioned as a casualty in a poem in the books, but has a major role in the game. Believe me, you'll meet everyone at some point or another. In some cases you'll even get to play the person in a session play quest. Have fun!
