My last period was February 25th. My doctor gave me a prescription for 10 days of Provera which I finished on May 25th. I have not had a period still. I called her office and was placed on forever hold. No answer. Should I be concerned? Sorry for taking so long to respond. Hello, i took provera for 5 days and it has been 5 days still no period, i am really really nervous.
Does provera helps you to get pregnant? Then why am not getting on period? Hi Tai, provera does not help you get pregnant.
Nicola, I read somewhere at some point that taking Provera is beneficial if you are not having periods because it prevents uterine lining building atop old uterine lining. Is there anything to this? Hi Jill, we actually talk about this in No Period. I tried provera probably 3 times and it never worked. In May my Dr put me on 60 days of Estrace estrogen tablets 2mg taken twice daily inserted into vagina. I gained about 15 pounds and was quite uncomfortable so just over a month after starting I called the doctor and she said I could just take 10 more days of the estrogen and the Provera at the same time.
It actually worked because yesterday a period started! I hope the Femara works!! However, the ultrasound showed about 12 big follicles. The doctor was terrified; she told me and my husband not to even look at each other!
Thanks again for the response, my ultrasound is on Sunday. Lucky you, right? What happened on Sunday? You could also explore clomid instead…. Hi, there were no follicles on Sunday- the biggest was 9mm. But my lining was about 6. I have another ultrasound booked for the 25th. Ahh, this is frustrating. My blood test showed progesterone was 0. Thank you so much for the response!
Hmm, I guess I misremembered; my doctor said I actually took 2. As I said below, no follicles after the last round of just 2. Good afternoon, I am a tiny athletic build female. I am diagnosed with PCOS. I used 5 mg BD for 5 days. After 12 days no period. I was curios as to why I did not get my period so I went for infertility blood test. All was normal except: Prolactin 3. I finished my last pill of the 2nd provera challenge this morning… so now for the wait….
Download the first chapter and information sheet and see if that rings true for you. I also work with individuals, noperiod. Hi Nicola! I did the Provera challenge a few months ago while still in the thick of HA and had just one circumstance after taking it where there was evidence of a bleed so light in color you would barely even tell.
My gyno recommended I do the Provera challenge again later to see if there are any improvements. She prescribed the Provera challenge to me yesterday, and told me that if I do get a period after I finish the pills, I should go and get lab work done on day 3 and 21 of the cycle. Will the results of this blood work yield the sufficient information about my hormones, given that the Provera challenge bleed is not a real period?
Getting bloodwork tested on cycle day 3 would give you a good idea of your baseline and status of hormones with regards to HA. Bloodwork on cycle day 21 will be to test if you have ovulated or not… which is possible but probably unlikely. Not really worthwhile unless you do think you have ovulated…. I was put on Provera and did not get a period. My doctor then prescribed Estradiol 2mg twice a day and than added 2mg vaginally at bedtime due to low estrogen.
My latest blood work showed my estrogen levals at She told me to continue taking the Estradiol and take the Provera challenge again. I am on day 5 of the challenge and I am feeling extremely bloated and highly emotional. Is this normal?.. Everyone responds to these hormones differently. This bleeding will usually occur days after the progestin is finished.
Possible Outcomes of the Test If the patient experiences bleeding after the progestin she has estrogen present but is not ovulating anovulation. If no withdrawal bleeding occurs, either the patient has very low estrogen levels or there is a problem with the outflow tract such as uterine synechiae adhesions or cervical stenosis scarring. Women with Withdrawal Bleeding The test has demonstrated that she builds up a lining in the uterus.
She bleeds after progesterone is withdrawn — showing that it is the lack of ovulation that is causing her not to have periods. Give estrogen to ensure endometrial proliferation, followed by a progestin to induce withdrawal bleeding.
A course of 2. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, or OHSS, is a condition with enlarged ovaries and fluid build up.
